Local Campaigns
Global Warming Solutions – Thursdays 5 pm, Office
Maryland has some of the strongest anti-global warming policies in the country. This gives us a great opportunity to put solutions in place, so this semester we’ll be working to increase wind power in our state.
Hunger and Homelessness – Tuesdays 6 pm, Office
Here in the U.S., nearly 50 million people struggled last year to get enough to eat. In D.C., nearly 1 out of 5 residents live at or
below the poverty line. This semester we will be working to raise awareness of these issues and participating in the Hunger Clean Up, a one day serve-a-thon to address local shelters most pressing needs.
Sweat-Free UMD – Tuesdays 4 pm, Office
As UMD decides to provide a sweatshop labor-free alternative, we want to make sure that at least 30% of apparel available to students is sweatshop-free so that workers around the world have fair wages and proper working conditions.
Election Day Registration – Wednesdays 4 pm, Office
Every year, thousands of eligible voters are disenfranchised by voter registration deadlines and absentee voter rules. This semester, we are working to pass Election Day Registration for Maryland, which will help increase voter turnout for students and other groups like the elderly and low-income people.
